Blog created in memory of Chapman’s daughter
A blog has been created this morning in memory of Maria Chapman, daughter of recording artist Steven Curtis Chapman. Maria died yesterday after being accidentally struck by a vehicle in the Chapmans’ driveway.
Your prayers are needed for all in the Chapman family. This is a family who has so generously loved and given to so many. Just hours before this close knit family was celebrating the engagement of the oldest daughter Emily Chapman, and were just hours away from a graduation party marking Caleb Chapman’s completion of high school. Now, they are preparing to bury a child who blew out 5 candles on a birthday cake less than 10 days ago. These words are unthinkable to type. - Jim Houser (Manager)
What a heartbreaking story. Thanks to Eugene Cho for raising awareness of the tribute blog.

I knew steven years ago when I was a little girl because my mom worked in christian music up here in minnesota. when I heard the news on the radio this morning it took me back almost 20 years. I now have children of my own- one almost the same age as maria and my heart breaks for them as they wake up to this new day and reality sinks in again. I will be praying continually for the family. I know that their faith will grow deeper as the Lord, in His goodness and mercy, will make something good come of this!!!

We will be bringing the entire Chapman family to the “Throne of Prayer”. Only, there, at the feet of Christ Himself, can you get the comfort that you need at this time. May they cling to the “cross” as they go through this difficult trial. May they rest and trust in the Sovereignty of God, knowing that God only brings things into our lives for 1. Our Good. 2. His ultimate glory! Trust in His wisdom, and flee to God’s embracing, tender, arms of love. He will HOLD you!

My heart is aching for the Chapman family. His words to us in song have been a comfort to me many times. I know God has his arms around the family and my prayers are with them.

Thanks for these kind words, everyone. Judging from local media reports, the outpouring of support for the Chapman family has been substantial. I’m glad they’re surrounded by people who love them during such a difficult time.
