State fair funeral ought to be a wake
I can understand the sadness regarding the demise of the Tennessee State Fair, but the decline started a long time ago. The state fair isn’t what it once was, and it hasn’t been for many years. Middle Tennessee would be better off moving the fair to a more suitable location, or perhaps even better, allowing the Wilson County Fair to carry the state fair’s name. The experience that fairgoers once sought from Nashville’s fairgrounds is now readily available across the county line.

Dude, I’m so glad someone else feels this way; I’ve yet to see a fair do it better than Wilson Co. To me, it’s always been the can’t-miss event; I can’t say I’ve ever felt that way about our State Fair.

The difference really does seem to be night and day between the two fairs. Apparently the sale of alcohol has been a sticking point in moving the Tennessee State Fair to Wilson County. I hope they can find a way to make it work there.
